What companies like EA, Ubisoft, Epic and Microsoft didn't realize when they shat out their terrible stores years after Steam started dominating is that making a better store than Steam takes time, consumers have no good reason to use a store that's worse and if you're years late to the fucking party, you might as well spend some extra time and money *to do it right*. If you want to challenge the top dog to a boxing fight, don't show up without even training because you'll just get punched down by Gabe's fat cock.
When people posted this LinkedIn post here about a former Amazon employee talking about the struggles they had competing with Steam, people expressed surprise here they never even heard about it. An imageboard full of consumers didn't even know Amazon tried to launch their own store and game streaming service. Nobody used them, and nobody really uses Origin or Uplay or the EGS except for when they really have to or they're giving out shit.
