What a piece of shit game, wide as an ocean but deep as a puddle
Anonymous No.723060839 [Report] >>723061010
IDK what this game is but I know the /v/ ritual, so I can already guess you were gonna like it before you watched a video either telling you you shouldn't like it, or a video by someone you dislike saying they like it, and instantly changed your opinion
And you never played it

Hell not even that, the entire gist of the game is contained in the demo.
Is not deep or wide in scope.
This piece of shit is just a puddle of muddy shit

No, Papers, Please was good. Not Human is just shit, you can just play the demo and you've seen 90% of the "game"

what were you expecting?
Anonymous No.723062223 [Report]
Its interesting enough for what it is, the dev could probably continue to add more characters to it to keep things interesting considering he just has to make a few sprites and write some text.
It reminds me of older science fiction/horror stories like The Body Snatchers, which is what I like about it.

i havent played it but i seen a bunch and yeah things seem off
save system? really?
theres no point in judging anyone at the door? their personalities dont seem to be associated with what they are. they just act innocent until you kill them?
they play the "in the scenario you would have no idea whats actually happening and never will" angle but it feels more of an excuse in doing the most lolrandom endings
Anonymous No.723062753 [Report]
>>723062364
Some are guaranteed visitors/humans. I think the random aspect to a lot of them is so you don't just memorize who is who and play a perfect game.
Ultimately, you're not trying to filter people at the door as much as you're trying to gave enough people in your house at all times. Threats from outside the house force you to keep letting people in, visitors prevent you from just saying yes to everybody. Its basically a little minigame to go along with the dialogue you sift through.

the art style and presentation are genuinely unsettling. most of the character models give me the creeps. i also like the idea of the sun flipping out keeping everyone in doors during the day and setting some monsters loose upon people at night
everything else though is pretty meh

The only thing going for the game is the art style. It looks weird and not like other games.
The guy didn't come up with anything in terms of gameplay. It's kind of just random ugly freaks showing up and you let them all in and then they are randomly humans or monsters that are very easy to detect. Their looks, their dialogue, all of it is completely disconnected from the gameplay.
The only people who will have fun with the game are those who don't understand how the game is made and they'll read all the dialogue and try to look for clues and they get lucky and make the right choice. Those people will feel smart and like the game gave them all these good clues.

the enjoyable aspect of the game is the story which is why i did not pay for it. aura photo was too OP. could have been cool if 1. the roommates actually reacted to deaths and 2. the endings weren't retarded. why the fuck am i talking to death or falling in a painting. there was nothing to glean from either of those endings other than feeling like the dev was wagging his dick in my face with pretentiousness. the mushroom quest was lame. the cult ending is boring. the rest of the game was grounded and unsettling enough to be spooky when you had nightmares, but the endings totally ruined the atmosphere, aside from the "shot the marksman" ending or "you let too many visitors in" ending. the best part of the game was the story through the windows
afterall, the game was meant to be streamer bait since the main draw is the creepy art and i can't even fault the devs for this because i did enjoy how gross everyone looked. fun little FOTM, this october is kind of dead for horror indie games

indie devs always tend to shit the bed with games like this ie a really interesting and unique premise that just ends up being a pretentious wankfest of artsy fartsy ideas or the devs warped ideas on social issues

except i liked the idea that you're judging people like firefighters or woodsmen who might have dirty nails, or traumatized people with red/darting eyes, all because the gubment who's clearly driving visitors towards your house, told you that normal human traits = a hidden monster. it's an interesting, bleak premise that can't be divorced from societal issues.
it's just not a good GAME due to everyone in your house acting like they're the only people who exist, the player character having little reaction to his own choices, and the dev shat the bed with the endings. the death ending especially was so stupid that you can't even find anyone discussing it because it's substanceless
while i'm talking about the endings, the trigger for the fema one was also stupid. choose the answers that aren't "fuck you fema kill yourselves glowniggers" and you suddenly join their ranks - why? the hole ending was the most lolsorandom thing ever. it would be cool if killing too many humans changed anything about the game other than getting a cutscene thrown at you.
maybe it should have been a straightforward VN with an established cast of characters

I think the scale of the game is a bit too small for the gameplay to work. Like every visitor that gets in is immediately weeded out. If there was just "more" to everything, I wonder if that would fix things.
>Player character is in a big house that has two or three floors to it.
>NPCs show up in greater numbers than three, all trying to take shelter from the apocalypse.
>Plenty of rooms for them to stay in, and they shuffle around the rooms.
>Its never announced if someone is killed, no corpse is left behind, they just disappear without a trace.
>Visitors don't kill/kill less often when the amount of NPCs in the house is low. More encouraged to kill when there are more visitors in the house so they blend in better.
>Some NPCs can gave gimmicks to throw the player off or make them more dangerous if they're visitors.

have you seen the angry bald guy who hurts himself, the longer you keep him in your house the more fucked up his skin gets, but it's because he has anger issues and takes it out on himself. if stuff like that was more widespread and more NPCs changed every day it could be interesting but that in turn would also make anyone trigger happy. there is also a mother who enters with a child, but the child disappears, which throws you off since up till now when someone dies, the bags appear.
there really needed to be interactions between the NPCs. or maybe the game should be longer if you want to add more rooms, and the player character should have more things to actually react to when people come to his door. the quests also all just suck ass.
i have had runs where i keep obvious visitors like the cat lady and fucking with her was funny, she ended up not killing often enough that i could see a good portion of her story before fema took her

>why the fuck am i talking to death
Because throughout the game and the good ending the general theme is that the protagonist is basically waiting to die even if he fears dying a violent death. In that ending he gets to go without pain, to a place of peace, calm and isolation like he wants.
