Neverwinter Nights 1 because it doesn't use tranny's first D&D: puke faggot edition?
Also Neverwinter Nights 1 has so much replay value if you enjoy persistent worlds created by the community to roleplay in.
Those RP persistent worlds are the closest thing you can get to playing D&D with strangers besides actually playing D&D.

try out Icewind Dale. can't speak for EE, but GemRB is a great open source engine to give it an easy facelift.

I'd like to politely counter this Icewind Dale suggestion.
I found it to be fucking boring and unimaginative, as if AI or aliens tried to make a fantasy adventure story.
Can't really explain it much beyond it feeling unnatural with weird pacing and retarded plot turns.
