Valve will literally kill this game to send everyone to deadlock when it comes out
It's not worth getting into it
retarded nigger starting this dead game in the big 25 lmfaoooo
the playerbase will make you uninstall dont worry about it, it's a question of time
if you were smart to begin with you wouldnt start this game, but the playerbase will hold you accountable, be ready to be in the "punishment pool", because the game dont ban players, it puts them with another cancerous players, and you cannot climb out of the punishment pool, you will get punished because you are a clueless retarded bitch and everyone playing this game (literally) knows everything about the game and are playing for atleast YEARS
beginners are not allowed and not welcome
also the game is on its last leg and everyone can see it outside of the retarded subhuman ghouls still playing this garbage 12years later
t. stopped 4 years ago

I still play Dota, OP, so I have a book full of advice. If you've never played before, then definitely play against bots. Do not play against players until you can beat bots, because players are much harder.
Also, do not underestimate bots. Do you see my play time? I can still play vs bots and be challenged, but I play against super hard custom bots called Open Hyper AI. You can try those one day if you think you're good.
Anyway, just play against regular bots until you understand the game. You basically want to push a lane until the enemy throne is gone, and the enemy heroes will try to stop you. That's the entire game. There's a thousand things to learn even if you understand how to win.
>>723070579 (OP)
so what makes you want to play dota?
play the tutorial missions and get your cheap cosmetics
goto training mode and try out the activation of items
there's a recommended guide ingame for each hero made by the community if you're too overwhelmed
>>723072385
>so what makes you want to play dota?
I'm surprised to hear someone wants to learn Dota in 2025. I learned Dota as a teenager, when people played Warcraft 3. Everyone played this because they wanted to prove they were better than other people, but I don't think zoomers care if they're better than others. If they did, I'd have people to talk Dota about.
Don’t.
Valve screwed over the Artifact fanbase by cancelling the Artifact 2.0 beta without even allowing users to invite friends like they said they would in January 2021 and does not deserve your financial support for these gross consumer-unfriendly practices.

try to enjoy most losses and learn one thing at a time. I think rotating 4 heroes across 2 roles is best for a beginner, you can try out all 100s heroes way later.
Forcefully try something new to learn each game, like pulling camps or careful last hitting or ganking using chat.
Don't use cheap guides to faceroll and win over and over with the same strat, you want to raise your ELO slowly and having learned more than 1 trick.
If you get mad, flame people on mic, hate and grief over losses, just uninstall, not your game.

Deadlock is almost as autistic as Dota but it's nowhere near the depth of gameplay dota offers (for now).
The map is interesting and heroes are fun but the general loop gets somewhat old pretty fast, Icefrog is definitely going for the gooner audience which is never a good sign in a new game from autistic devs.

dota is definitely more polished and deep for what it is, but on the other hand dota doesn't have aiming, advanced movement or even beginner movement or 3d geometry. I don't know which game is "more skillful" but deadlock is definitely more fun, just running around and shooting people is way more fun

It's definitely more beginner-friendly than Dota (which to be honest applies to probably every online game that's ever existed), meaning you can have some fun even if you don't know what the fuck is going on at all, since shooting and jumping around is entertaining, but since the heroes are designed to be so much simpler and itemization is still frankly a fucking mess I don't think the game is as interesting as Dota is. Still, it literally isn't out yet, while Dota has had almost 30 years to evolve, Deadlock is almost definitely going to be a big success and take over Dota as the main Valve game soon.

Deadlock is fairly simplistic on the strategy side yeah
>know when to rat
>know when to urn/midboss
>be good at initiating teamfights and ganking and all that jazz
>know how to maximize your farm
basically the game is just know when to push your advantage or play from behind, but it's definitely entertaining enough within that framework to get at least 500 more hours from me. They could do with some more interesting gimmick heroes, like how in dota they just outright give characters retardedly fucking insane spells that still manage to be balanced (teleport, divided we stand, bear, spell steal, blink, etc), deadlock heroes are more rounded right now

As a person who used to play HoN, Dota 1 and Dota 2 a lot, I'd say you'll probably have more fun playing League.
If you absolutely still want to play Dota 2, this is the only advice I can give you - this is not a video game in the traditional sense. This is a proving ground for nerds, sweary tryhards and people down on their luck in life who want to take it out on anyone in a video game. The point of Dota is to be good at it, not to have fun playing it. With that being said, the game itself can be very fun, it's potentially one of the most fun PC games ever created, but the problem is that it's also a team game where you are forced to play with 9 other people. Sure - you can learn it, you can improve, and you can also be so good that you dwarf everyone else in the game, style on them and basically win games all by yourself. It's been done a million times, it's not a question of whether you have the natural ability or talent or not, it's whether you have the colossal free time to spend playing the game and improving at it. You are required to spend between 2k and 5k hours before you can even begin actually playing the game. And the better you get, the worse your games will become.
So the question you need to ask yourself is "am I willing to spend years of my lifetime improving in this game?". If for whatever reason the answer is yes, then I'd say just start playing Dota and don't overthink it. Everything will sort itself out eventually. If you don't want to start a lifestyle game, then don't. It's a pretty old game in its decline that so desperately wants to be a sport that it's willing to chase away its own playerbase just to try to be bigger than it is.

worst playerbase I had the misfortune to encounter in my entire life and I played the most shit videogames like wow xiv or overwatch so it says a lot. Actual escapism game (50minutes MINIMUM from the queue time to picking phase to finishing the game) made for thirdworlders to escape their miserable and pathetic existence. You will not find a single player from a first world country playing this game. Normal people play lol or normie games, imagine the fucking smell and mental state of the 30yo+ dude that plays this game several hours a day since like 2014, day in day out, doing the same fucking shit, living in the complete illusion that the games are all different, in reality they are always the same games, and heroes dont change much because those bastards will pick meta like the """""pros""""" (last TI showed that no one gives a fuck about this dead game anymore)
