Latley I'm trying to migrate off Youtube more and more. Same with every other Google service. I don't support age verification via face scans or ID scans, that data WILL be saved in the databases despite EULAs saying it will only be for as brief a time as they need only for it to get leaked out of their hands or the random 3rd party verification partners they have. Luckily I've never been asked to prove my ID despite constantly listening to Parappa the Rapper or Super Monkey Ball OSTs, but even then I have my watch history, searches, and recommendations off AND YET still can tell the algorithm is tracking my watches more than just adding to the view counts by the recommended videos off a specific vid page (the 2000s Chicago soundtrack should not be appearing as recommended off a Kaze Super Mario 64 hacking video).
The sooner we decentralize Google the better, and we need to start by weakening it by using its ervices less and showing people they can't be trusted

There are open source alternatives for programs and many other email and videohosting sites out there. Go use them.
But to answer your question, I like having video essays like game reviews or game philosophy vidoes in the background, I like Second Wind/Yahtzee, Chris ONiel, got into the Real Life Fake Wizard recently. Maybe nonvidya junk like RLM, listening to Cumtown episodes I haven't heard before, been watching and listening to a lot of Louis Rossman and Mental Outlaw latley galvanizing me over consumer rights and hoe fucked the tech industry is. But I got this problem where if there are ANY visuals that are in the video aside from a dude talking to the audiance, I want to distract myself and watch it so it acts less like a supplement and more like a distraction, hence the podcasts and some essays.

I have a few specifics games that lend themselves well to background music if there isnt any critical audio or sound queues. Or if its something ive played lot of already and heard the soundtrack enough I'll mute music and play my own stuff which could be something ambient or instrumental.

Same anon, I personally have only used Dailymotion for watching uploads of tv shows or content youtube would ban, and that's like old old. Right now I'm running with Odyssee, but it's also not perfect. A couple of video makers I like will upload over there too. I'm contemplating if I even want to sign up for an accounf there or if it'll just be another way to be tracked. Maybe when the day comes I want to upload stuff.
