It's both something to like and to dislike, because it simultaneously means any uppity developer that is annoyed at receiving negative feedback can perma-ban you from their forum section - without any statement of reason; going so far as giving you the politically correct equivalent of telling you to go choke on a bag of dicks, even. And Valve will respect that decision and not do a single fucking thing if you try to contest it.
Meanwhile, if you accrue enough forum section level bans, the system automatically escalates you to a community wide ban.
This means you get a chilling effect:
no-one who knows about the above will dare speak out with candor against dumb decisions applied by developers, against asinine shit like launcher spyware added by publishers, censorship applied over a game years after it was released to make it 'more fit for the modern time'; etc.
And overall, that's pretty bad for product quality offered to consumers.
Steam is basically an echo-chamber enforcing publisher-approved viewpoints because of it.
