Explain why YOU still own game consoles when Emulation exists!
I am a console owner, and would like your insights

ending your life is a option. A optioN YOU SHOULD TAKE YOU FUCKING RETARD BITCH
There's no emulator for Switch 2 and it's unlikely there will be one for another few years at least.
I bought a PS5 when it first came out because I fell for the exclusives meme, at least I'll be able to play GTA VI day one. This is 100% my final console though.

I primarily just emulate Playstation titles since I can play most of the Nintendo ones I want on NSO/Virtual console. Playing them on original hardware feels better but I have a Dualshock 3 hooked up to my PC.

It's really fucking easy to figure out what parts you need.
>look at the games you WANT to play
>check their performance benchmarks on tester websites and any youtube videos
>buy a fitting AMD+AMD or Njudea+Whatever for your GPU+CPU respectively that is capable of running the game
There is literally nothing else you need to care about as long as you're not going full retard and just forget to buy RAM sticks
PROTIP: don't buy a motherboard made in 1989

I like retro hardware because the ergonomics of the original controllers are often VERY good, and there's sometimes no way of using them on PC. Beyond that I like having them as vanity pieces; they're a bit of a display. Most recent console I own is a ps4 though, I was thinking about getting a switch but never pulled the trigger (was waiting on it to go for like 100 bucks, like the big price cuts the 3ds and especially 2ds went on, lmao). The ps4 is just from before I had a gaming-able PC. I do also have a 3ds and ps vita that I think won't be replaced by an emulator handheld for a while, though; they typically are the best way to play those games, and you can just hack them, anyway.

I bought a second hand(premodded) ps2 and wii because their emulation wasn't good enough and buying a better CPU would've been more expensive
The Wii was alright but the PS2 felt like a mistake despite me using it for 1000+ hours because emulating games that I have already finished and seeing them at 4k native resolution with improved loadtimes feels so much better that it feels like I did them a disservice
Most Wii games were garbage so I don't mind that all that apart from wasting cash on Wii motion plus to play Skyward sword

I find emulation to be boring alongside the modern hardware it runs on. I find vintage hardware to be very interesting. Old consoles also have more native AV options than most PCs so I can hook them to my many CRTs without input lag.

And modern controllers suck. I don't know it was unanimously decided among all hardware manufacturers that every controller must be a flat white brick with contours. I miss the Dualshock 2 and 360 controller.

I still have some consoles just for plug and play convenience like in a living room, or if you have people over. But I also emulate because I like to have all games on one system. Plus with a lot of emulators you can make games look better than how they are on original hardware.
>uh that's against the artistic intention
>you didn't beat the game
Already played MGS to death but it's nice seeing it with a facelift.

want to play some old less popular Playstation game? good fucking luck.
