Sword is a plough not a murder weapon. Pair it with sniper rifle, dexecutioner or chaff killer of your choice so you have actual killing power while you hold W.

I loved Vsurv, but it gets insanely boring once you are halfway through the game because every run besides Toasty is just rushing towards stage items and then sitting still for 30 minutes. Toasty is fun, but once you know how to win a run on him it gets boring as well. Megabonk being 3d gives you fun ass movement and that alone puts it above vampire survivors easily. You also can't really sit still in this game.

Don't neglect damage mitigation, armor and evasion go a long way with enough hp and shield. The hardest part is staying alive during his invulnerable phases since the only real way to heal is through regen or not getting hit to recharge your shield. Lifestealing from add spawns isn't reliable in those phases

Neither did vampire survivors, once you get all the unlocks it's over, even before that, unlocks shit is just being completionist since there is nothing to do after you did all the main progression content which can be done in like 10 runs.

No game is infinite in replayability unless the have no cap of "ending" and even than is just a cheap way to prolong the exact loop you did in first 19 minutes.

This genuinely feels like one of the worst vampire survivors clones I've played
There's pretty much only two offensive stats that matter, projectile count and projectile bounce, as any other stat requires way more investment to match them
If you're even remotely competent you'll unlock things way faster than you get the silver to unlock them
Enemy hp scales obnoxiously if you go through the portal making the bosses a fucking slog
If you finish a stage for the first time it doesn't even let you go through the portal

It genuinely just feels like it's artificially limiting how quickly you go through the game
It also stole so much from ror2 which is honestly just the far superior game in every way

And for a lot of survivor clones you often reach a point where you don't even do that and just entirely walk away from your pc

These types of games feel like a dopamine treadmill that immediately becomes boring once you finished unlocking things or get close to finishing them. This game, while perhaps the most fun gameplay wise (because of the 3d aspect and the character movement) ends up getting boring fast because there is a lack of content. Only 2 maps, afaik there is no desert tier 3 challenges (haven't beat it myself yet, but the wiki doesn't have any listed), the unlocks are really easy to get, there isn't much hidden stuff, there isn't any cool "cutscene" type things like how Vampire Survivors had or any story elements at all to it really, and it needs more fun things like how in vampire survivors you can combine weapons or like in halls of torment where you can really get "builds" going.
So far this game feels very barebones in comparison, but it's a very solid base and I hope once they add more content I can come back to the game with a fresh save and have a lot more fun with it.

it's strictly inferior to other garlic likes because there's more than 1 build you can take in say risk of rain or holocure. in this if you load up a t3 run and cheese doesn't drop your run is dead. 10% damage upgrades add a whopping 1-2 when the game is throwing hundred thousand hp bosses at you by the 2 minute left mark in zone 2. damage just does not ramp as it should.

Use any projectile character like fox, monke or skeleton, get xp tome / projectile tome, and get a second projectile weapon type in the run like firestaff, bone, banana, or wire dagger. That's it. You can beat any level or tier this way. If you want to make t3 easier get a lifesteal, regen, or luck tome too.

I think VS is overall a high quality package but the items and builds get boring real quick in it. There's a bunch of games in the genre that do it better. There's also some that have made the game interesting in different ways.

DRGS has the best gameplay because the objective is more than just dodging the horde.

NIMRODS is fun to explore the fixed map for unlocks and shit and it has excellent build options with the weapon parts though with the downside that it's all guns which limits the variety a bit.

Nordic Ashes gives each character their own unique little skill tree and also has a fuckload of meta progression and different maps and even got a DLC with a different game mode that has you clearing waves/rooms.

the game is fun but it isn't balanced well, even if you give yourself free level ups with mods enemies scale up beyond what the benefit of levels gives you for tier 3, you basically need a very specific setup of powerups and pure dps while staying above the curve the being to high level will start to work against you

One of the biggest issues I have with some of these games are the inability to tell your shit from the enemies. I don't remember having this issue with Vampire Survivors, but it was awful in 20 Minutes Till Dawn and Death Must Die.

Right now the meta is Robinette with XP/Chaos/Gold/Cursed tomes, instant damage weapons like katana/lightning/aura, the dice for consistent top end, and using all your banishes for every red item except Greencard and Grabby Hands. Get some soul harvesters, farm up a shitload of gold, open a billion chests for luck, and go crazy. Problem is it's very reset heavy, since you really need a green card or harvester early.

You also want golden shield and kevin so he will hit you and then you will gain gold from it. And the chaos tome will end up giving you enough pickup% that you don't really need the magnet. Grab any lifesteal you can as well from charge areas.

I beat tier 3 forest with among. Its a lot more manageable if you sell your weapon slots so you can pump poison better. Rough start but the poison scales well. 300% luck and I was still getting greens, got less gold items then on 0% luck runs.

the "hyper" challenge in tier 1 desert. use tony zoom character. xp tome, curse tome, quantity tome, no 4th tome slot. probably dont need more than 2 or 3 weapons either. some simple quantity levels will help with the mobs, otherwise pump xp and curse, be sure to kill the boss in time so the final magnet gives you a mega dump of xp, and use that wave to ONLY pump cursed tome (use your refreshes if it doesnt show up).

When we were kids we would just keep playing halo again and again cause the gameplay loop was fun, we finished the campaign so it's technically over. Why play again? Cause it's fun.
