if they had some spine or sense they would have bridged New York city as a setting, and maybe put out Spider-man & Turtles at the same time or at least adjacent for the new players (what new players?) to use the same lands and similar cards with similar art and a similar setting... maybe design the two to draft well together? Maybe? Since both the sets are so damned anemic??
"Standard" just looks like a Universe Beyond showcasing at this point, especially when these "standard releases" are like half a set each. Spider-man has a really low card count and I imagine it's not the exception since you can't really write a whole world with different ecosystems out of New York and Spider-man.
Standard barely rotates anymore too so it will creep up in power comically, just wait.
