i have open world (?) markers fatigue
Why do game devs do them??
Who the fuck enjoy them???
Either make a main quest or side quest that takes place in that place or fuck off

Why fill your entire map with ? so your players have to go to each location to solve 20 puzzles, kill 10 bandits, find 5 treasure chests, etc.

And they even make sure all that shit is in your face at all times, it's not optional content if every time you open the map all of it is filled with shit.

Nothing is hidden. You just have to pay attention to what characters say.

Maybe in some cases, but a lot of Elden Ring's quests I was able to complete just by remembering things character's said. I definitely wrote some stuff down too on my first playthrough.

One of the things I like about Fromsoft games is that they don't care if you miss stuff. It makes figuring those things out on your own that much more rewarding. Its far more engaging than having a checklist on a map. A nice compromise might be a Morrowind style journal.

Good, they're called "side" quests for a reason. You can miss every single one and the game would still be full length. Skipping the "side" quests in other open world slop games makes the game 1/10 as long. Side content should not make up more of your game than the main quest.

>One of the things I like about Fromsoft games
Don't lump Elden Roll in with their other games. Obscure quest lines work in Dark Souls and Bloodborne because you're doing laps around linear tightly designed levels. You will run into the same characters multiple times naturally. The same formula doesn't work when they're just teleported to a random spot in a massive empty field that you will only visit once.

gothic figured it out
don't make "activities", just build a small map that makes sense and has realisticly placed encounters, caves, interesting hand placed loot etc instead of random generated slop with sprinkled bandit camps to fill the empty space

This shit is why I can never get into oblivion. Everything is so generic and homogeneous, every POI placement felt like some "I just work here" lady decided "OK, we haven't had ruins in [x distance] that means we have to put one here". That plus the enemies level with you means the entire fucking game is the samey SOULLESSness

Elden Ring doesn’t have quests. It has NPCs spewing out random gibberish that doesn’t make any sense until you find them dead in a corner somewhere so some fuckwit can make a 7 hours long video essay on it explaining his head canon as if it’s intended to be factual by the devs.

You are so fucking retarded. It doesn’t take it to be a genius to figure out clues that NPCs give away but pretending they actually give you any clues what so ever is being peak delusional. This is why Soulsfags became such lolcows these days because majority of you are pretentious retards who severely suffer from the DK effect.
