Yunyun Syndrome
I just finished the demo and wanted to make a webm of it. I noticed some of the translation issues people pointed out on a previous thread, but overall I think it was okay. This game's script must be a nightmare to translated, I'll give them a pass if they feel like skibidi is an appropriate analogue for whatever brainrot japanese slang the girl is saying.

Also this game is sad and depressing, but in a different way from that vapid streamer game from a few months ago. When you inspect her room, all the objects relating to her dad are happy memories and the ones relating to her mom are sad ones. But the worse thing was when she texted her mom saying "I wuuv you mommy please come home" and then the woman beat her up for being a worthless waste of space.

Also the jump in difficulty from the 2nd to the 3rd difficulty is just too much. The first long on the hardest difficulty was picture related.

DO NOT BUY THIS GAME, NOT BECAUSE OF THE TRANSLATION BUT BECAUSE YOU WILL GIVE MONEY TO WSS PLAYGROUND AND THEY'RE EVIL
>the main people behind needy girl overdose are nyalra and his small team, wss just publishes it
>the ceo of wss, daichi saito, is the producer of ngo
>the game is successful and sells millions of copies
>since its their most successful published game by far, saito sees this as an opportunity to make easy money and starts mistreating nyalra and the others
>nyalra claims saito abused the ngo team and hasn't compensated them
>saito basically takes over the ngo ip and starts whoring it out for collabs and merch without the consent of any of the devs, who see none of the money from that stuff
>saito starts avoiding japanese media outlets so he wont say anything he can be held accountable for since overseas fans wont know or care
>nyalra and saito are now engaged in legal shit because saito wont stop being an asshole
This is all from nyalra's twitter. And by supporting this game which wss helped develop, anything else they worked on or published, or anything new done with the ngo ip, you are giving money to saito. Do not buy yunyun syndrome, support nyalra and his new company haze denki instead. If you want to play yunyun then stick to piracy

I don't think you're supposed to take everything that happens at face value. It is a denpa, everything's fucked and not exactly what it looks like. If there's an actual substantial story in the final version, we may learn a bit more about what's really happening.

As someone who's been learning Japanese for over half a year, I can understand plenty of spoken word (Kanji is hard) and I can say that this localization is horrible and extremely unfit for the game it actually missunderstands what it's going for and it is very unfitting. I'll go into that later, for localization, it's truly their fan-fiction, until the main character says something serious, or implies something more serious in the background, then they seem to drop their localization, so I guess it could be much worse..it's still pretty fucking shit though but it seems the main plot points won't be messed with.
This game is Denpa, the musical genre in video game form, the non-sensicial elements aren't "braintrot 2020" it isn't even inherently 2000s/2010s internet memes, it's something entirely different but also too specific to the Denpa genre and Otaku-ism as a whole.
Denpa is about going insane from Moe, Eroge and general escapism, escapism into Otaku world pushed into the max, that's what Denpa is, and when you look into the plot of this game, it captures that 100%, the main character's favorite anime character, probably from Eroge comes to "life" (in reality she is probably that delusional, which once again, very Denpa). She is a literal hikkimori NEET otaku, once again, Denpa. The non-sense of Denpa isn't to be funny, Denpa isn't funny, Denpa is insane and delusional, hence why this localization misses the point of what this game is trying to do, it's trying to capture Denpa, Denpa is what this game is all about.
I believe that the Irisu Syndrome tribute when you launch the game is more than just a mere silly tribute, but something bigger too, it isn't just referecing an important artifact, but a game that's about loneliess, deep isolation and madness, which this game is all about as well.
I am deeply excited for this game, it seems fantastic, the localization is a huge fucking mess that doesn't get what it's trying to do. Will be a great game though.

No, trust me, they insert internet slang even when the characters just say something as normal "I'm embarassed!" and they make it zoomer shit, they insert lame humour into dialouge where it isn'T even intended. This game isn't meant to be zoomer or even millenial, it's meant to be a descend into madness.

Because you say you played the demo and think the translation is okay. Kind of implying you checked the japanese and english because how else would you know it okay. And how would you know if it's a nightmare to translate?
>whatever brainrot japanese slang the girl is saying.
But then this is phrased like you didn't check the japanese. You played the demo didn't you? You should know the brand of brainrot. And the examples people post don't even have brainrot. Are you just phoning it in? Just saying it's okay without doing any work youself and hoping everyone believes you? People are completely justified in wanting quality localizations and being skeptical of localizations that don't seem faithful. This is insulting.

I'd imagine it's because they think it won't look good in english, as her jp script, at least for what was in the demo, is intentionally written in a way that the "yun" just very organically fits as a sentence ender. It sounds and reads nicely.
It obviously wouldn't be as good in en, and would likely require a lot of effort to make it at least decent, and the translators would rather use their time putting in more zoomer memes. Understandable, really. That's their real job, after all.

It should be signal all the time or some synonym atleast. Consistency. And they removed the ใ“ใ“ใ‚. It's all over the place. Sometimes they see ใƒ‰ใ‚ญใƒ‰ใ‚ญ and copy paste "heart dokidoki" whatever. And then other times it'll be "ใ“ใ“ใ‚ใฎใฉใใฉใ" and they'll remove the ใ“ใ“ใ‚. It's very inconsistent.

The rhythm game definitely feels like an afterthought, especially considering the multiple reports of lag or timing not being accurate in several songs doesn't matter how much you adjust the offset. There's also the problem that Normal is too easy while Hard becomes a huge difficulty jump, and almost all of the songs are oldies people have already played for years except for maybe the NGO songs. Also, it kind of bothers me that they included at least four Touhou songs, but they couldn't bother adding Internet Survivor which is literally a Touhou internet culture song.
