Video games don't "suck" these days. You just aren't an impressionable bored 10 year old anymore. You actually have responsibilities that affect your mood when you play games now.

I exclusively play games from the 2000s I've never played before and I enjoy them as much as I enjoyed games as a kid. So no, video-games just suck now. I'll be happily chipping away at my backlog of classic games and you'll be coping and seething and forcing down modern dogshit LMAO

every now and again, I'll find an old hidden gem that I can get running through WINE. I'll spend way more time with those than anything released in the last decade.

Linux users do not play games and never in their lives have they ever played even a single real video game. It's always been goofing around with casual garbage and when you look at /g/ and what they prominently display is the lamest crap imaginable.

ITS BECAUSE LITERALLY EVERYONE HAS INTERNET ADDICTION NOWADAYS

YOU ARE ALREADY STARING AT A SCREEN FROM THE MOMENT YOU WAKE UP UNTIL YOU GO TO BED

YOU'RE GETTING DOPAMINE FROM SCROLLING AND CLICKING ON STUFF THAT GAMES ARE ***SUPPOSED*** TO BE GIVING YOU INSTEAD

IT IS THAT SIMPLE

I lived in the '90s and most of the games back then were dogshit. But also back then I only bought about 6 games a year and had to finish them because I had no choice or play a video game I didn't have at a friend's house from school. Nowadays there are so many games that if you don't like one, you just leave it halfway and move on to another. That consumerist attitude has fried many people's brains; they are too demanding and buy many games but almost never finish any of them 100%.

This is also a great point. An easy solution is to delete/hide most of your library and only focus on a few games at a time because chances are you're overstimulated

RTS, Grand Strategy, twin stick shooters and CRPGs have been on the steady decline outside of exceptions for the past 20 years.

Games suck now.

Yeah, sure looks like a fantastic ecosystem out there. Boy i sure do love playing 20yo games at 720p upscaled to 4k on a $3000 gpu because everyone uses UE5

In my early adulthood, I went back and played a bunch of classic games from the early-90s to mid-00s and concluded that they were overall better and more interesting than the games I actually grew up playing, which were all from 2009-2013. Nevermind the shit that they shovel out nowadays.
Old games are just better and everyone is bored of these insane copes.

No, they are worse now.
Multiplayer games used to be designed to be fun, now theyโ€™re made to optimise your attention and their revenue, with FOMO to keep you playing and waste your time.
Singleplayer used to be innovative, now theyโ€™re โ€œimmersiveโ€ over-the-shoulder actionslops with boring gameplay and shitty stories.

>RTS/Grand Strategy/CRPGs
These are some of the worst most dunning krueger enabling genres ever made and they have never ever been good. The less of them there are, and the less of a focus there is on them, then the healthier the industry is.
>twin-stick shooters
I have no idea wtf you're talking about as this is such a weirdly specific thing that has never at any point in time been "big" or good, and there's a myriad of relatively recent titles in this subgenre compared to the past. Twin stick is fundamentally bad to begin because the game design is immediately crippled by being able to shoot 360 degrees from anywhere on the screen at all times. It's very rare anything comes out of this subgenre that's remotely even beyond mediocre. It's basically just geometry wars, nuclear throne, star of providence, and the rest over all of history is just absolute crap.

I'm a zoomer(03, I experienced my peak fun with games from 2017-2020. I can say confidently that the 2000-2010 era was peak, having zero nostalgic experience with mainline releases from that era. Gaming today has so many problems that just did not exist back then, and games back then released more frequently, with higher quality, and the majority of those games are still great today. I don't even really think is a subjective thing, I've introduced zoomer friends who just play siege and cs to games like Mass Effect 2 and VTMB and they loved them.

Videogames feel like work. Why would I put in time and effort to learn how to move a bunch of pixels around to interact with other pixels? If I have to exert effort, I'd rather do so on something mentally or physically stimulating. I bought thousands of dollars worth of games on Steam like a dumbfuck because my computer can run them but I throw them on for a half hour before quitting, completely underwhelmed and dissatisfied.

People put in thousands of hours into these things and my mind is blown. I'm on 4chan because it's an easy way to decompress, before you chimp about me being here.

This doesn't explain why there are still a handful of games I can find each year that are still enjoyable, and why I can look back to a library of games before 2010 (considered AAA in those days as well) that I occasionally come back to replaying and still find people actively playing it. but keep trying to socially engineer people into disbelieving their lying eyes, you absolutely pathetic cretin.

When I was 14 I was playing Everquest which wasn't for a casual demographic that was research paneled for maximum retard sales. Without a board of suits who wanted zero risk or niche potential. They made the game on 3 million dollars and a lot of that went to Brad McQuaids cocaine budget. They also had to make infrastructure and scale that never existed before it. No one is making a game for people who play 14 hours a day and have to accept their body rotting at the bottom of Old Sebilis. No one is dropping out of college to play this shit, no one has 3 years /played in this shit other than maybe Rust which is full of cheaters and thirdies. Modern games suck ass, even live service garbage drip feeds 6 hours of content for every 3 months wait like Warframe and takes zero risks. The only good games in years have been Subnautica and maybe Gmod sunrust for a few thousand hours.
