Yeah, so what's the problem? Myrms overkill their speed no matter what and swords are light. I just don't think this is an issue in practice. It bugs perfectionists because they're always weighed down by basic weapons, but it doesn't hurt their viability. It made sense in FE5. It solved a few problems at once. Namely, it provided a buffer stat so units aren't always sub 5 AS just for picking up an axe or whatever. It also was critical to how the game's capture and rescue systems worked.
The cool thing about it in FE5 is that high CON isn't straightforwardly a good thing. Being a fatass makes it easy to capture and rescue, BUT it also makes it seriously hard to be rescue - more so than in the GBA version of it - since large characters inflict movement penalties on their rescuer. It can also grow like any other stat in FE5, that's kind of a mixed bag.
As with many features from FE5, GBA simplified it a good deal, arguably for the worse.

What's so great about it? It's just that stat that annoys you slightly with AS reductions until you can forge-engrave a weapon's weight down low enough until it can be permanently ignored. Feels vestigial, because it is. Rescue or a similar mechanic doesn't exist anymore, so it feels like they put it in just to superficially pander to oldfags in the anniversary title.

I think weight should be mitigated by its own stat. Never liked it when Str is the stat that mitigates weapon weight because it just creates a rich get richer scenario. And unlike the GBA games, CON isn't an unchanging stat that you just have to deal with on units with shit CON. Plus having CON level ups are always based and hype since they're low%.

Eh, I play on fixed so to me it's just another little widget to look at. I don't mind it necessarily but I also don't feel it does a whole lot. It's a slight modifier to attack speed, not a big deal. That was only a tiny part of what it did in Thracia and GBA, so in a sense it's comparatively the most pointless iteration of the stat.
