The music was good.
The voice cast had potential but poor direction.
The story had potential but fumbled horribly
And the levels weren't well designed for gsmeplau
gameplay but the settings were good
A microcosm of the crash IP out of naughtydog's hands. Decent ideas and bad execution

I recognize its flaws as a game that was badly unfinished due to publisher meddling, sure.
Is it annoying that on actual hardware it takes a really fucking long time to load into stages?
Is it annoying that Crunch is ALL the bosses because he's the only model they had time to make look good?
Do I WISH they would have finished the Crunch player controller so you'd play as him in the last warp room instead of the clunky ass mech?
Sure, all of these things are true.
However, I still think it's a good game.
Anonymous No.723096508 [Report]
I always just saw it as Crash Warped 2, there were things it did better than that game, but also some inferiorities.

the music for the jetpack levels was absolutely amazing ON THE PS1. The remake's sound design choices were questionable, particularly on the third title. Spyro had it worse though by far. The voice acting talent for both was generally up to par or better though I will say that.

Sorry my mind is stuck in the original trilogy. I was staring at OP's abomination and thought it was an HD remaster gone wrong but I think you're right it is wrath of cortex.
I remember when the PS2 got sequels a lot of PS1 era characters went from iconic to abominable, and went from tight controls to floaty ass.

The Spyro remasters have atrocious movement though, nothing like the original. Jump carries over no momentum from charge and there's bugs somehow too. Well the original had bugs too and if they patched the game to be less broken I guess that's fine. They may have though momentum was a bug

ProsConsExcellent soundtrack: Widely praised as one of the best in the series, with memorable and underrated tracks that enhance the atmosphere.Excessive vehicle sections: Many levels force vehicle-based gameplay (e.g., submarines, mechs), which feel poorly designed, slow, and frustrating compared to on-foot platforming.Solid core platforming and level variety: Retains the engaging, classic Crash formula with fun, varied environments (e.g., volcano, arctic, castle stages) and quality-of-life improvements like better controls in later levels.Rushed development and lack of innovation: Feels like a formulaic, lower-budget rehash of Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped with minimal new ideas, leading to bland or repetitive content.Interesting new concepts: Introduces Crunch as a bulky, personality-driven rival and elemental masks, adding fresh story beats and boss fights (e.g., Pyro Crunch).Technical issues: Long loading times (especially on PS2), floaty jumping, poor depth perception, awkward monkey bars, and Coco's clunky controls make gameplay frustrating, particularly in Time Trials.Decent length and replayability: Offers substantial content with 30+ levels, death routes, and collectibles, plus nostalgic PS2-era visuals and 60fps performance on some ports.Dated graphics and presentation: Bland, empty backgrounds, ugly character models, and weak animations make it look inferior to predecessors despite PS2 hardware; some ports have slowdown.Fun niche levels: Standouts like the Super Monkey Ball-inspired gem-hunting stages and "Crash N Burn" provide brief highlights of creative platforming.Underwhelming bosses and story: Boss fights are repetitive or easy, with a dull plot, cringeworthy dialogue, and demoted villains that lack wit or challenge.

I never liked the relics, too much of a pain the neck for me, personally. That's why I always enjoyed replaying the second game, it has just the right length for a platformer of that era.

>ugly models
>janky everything
>most annoying banging/crashing sounds from weather balloon level didn't map to sound channels properly, meaning you mute the master volume and it still plays
>fucking TIPTOE POWER UP
It wasn't pretty, but it was also my first Crash Bandicoot game I owned.
Was WoC the first Crash game to struggle like many sequel platformers from its time with minigame bloat? Or do you think 3 already established that first?
