the only people who want the story to change are KHHVs from shitholes like brazil and india and poland (or obese nogs from America) who had a fantasy when they were growing up that a girl like aerith would "rescue" them from their shut-in existence. these types of guys never got over the first time their childhood oneitis rejected them, so they spent the rest of their lives calling every woman a whore, even if it was a fictional chick. with the remake trilogy, these fags just want to feel vindicated for their lifelong waifu devotion to zack's sloppy seconds. They can't accept the fact that Cloud isn't their self-insert, that the two or so weeks for which he knew aerith were weeks when he was mindbroken and basically LARPing as Zack. That whole twist about clouds personality and the reveal about Nibelheim just doesn't mean anything to these guys. They're just stuck in the disc one mindset and they want to feel validated for it. Basically subhuman failsons.
