Final Fantasy X always is a comforting game for me, it's stuck with me ever since I first played it. The atmosphere is just great and the beautiful soundtrack definitely helped.
It's the last Sakaguchi game, it's the last Uematsu game. Hell, it's literally the last Squaresoft Final Fantasy before the m*rger. It's really interesting seeing how they were trying to evolve the formula and the tech, and you can only imagine what the series would have been if Sakaguchi stayed at the helm.

once a year i play it it but with cheats
i use 1 hit kill on bosses because i really just play for the atmosphere, vibe, music and story, dont really care for combat

He had nothing to do with it.
Sakaguchi's last FF game was 5 on the SNES.

He did hardly any of the music. The bulk of it, and all the good stuff, was by Junya Nakano and Masashi Hamauzu. Umeatsu's tracks were terrible.

Your fondness for this game comes down to nostalgia. I grew up with the SNES games and have an extreme fondness for them, so by the time the ps1/ps2 FF's came out, i was in my 20s and thought the series had fallen off a cliff.

That "feeling" you have is nostalgia because you obviously played it when you were 9 years old and it blew your tiny timmy socks off.

For anyone who was an adult at the time, FFX came off as a nonsensical clusterfuck of a game that in no way resembled the series it was supposed to be a part of.

Been playing with a friend right now and we got to Seymour Flux last night. I didn't realize how OP Yojimbo is if you recruit/pay him right. Fucker oneshotted Seymour first turn and now im bummed my bud missed out on one of the more prominent fights in the game.
Playing international with the windowcast core layering a crt royal/megabezel filter over pcsx2, game still looks as great as it did back then.
Little zoom is having a great time with the game too, might have to introduce em to the ps1 trilogy after this.

I played 4 5 6 7 8 9 and 10 from the time I was 27 to 34 and loved them all. My favorites are 5 and 8. It's not nostalgia. Also Chrono Cross and Trigger Xenogears and Twewy. All great.

I'm going through all the shit I missed out on as a kid. Mostly jrpgs.

If he ends up liking them, ps1 releases of 5&6 had pseudo-multiplayer where P2 controls set party members. My brother and I did similar with Mario & Luigi SuperStar Saga on an emulator back in the day.
I was pretty young though and the fun from it came from not having to just watch for a change.

Woah that's pretty cool. He connects over parsec and we just swap p1 as needed for X. Ever since we discovered Dokapon I've been hunting for more mulitplayer rpgs so I'll definitely check those ports out for 5 and 6.
