Okay then. Personally I recommend:
-Blue Dragon (if you have an Xbox 360 or modern Microsoft console)
-Magical Starsign (Nintendo DS game published by Nintendo)
-Atelier Shallie (I think it has better combat than other Atelier games)
-Earthbound (a classic JRPG, not one of the best games of all time i'd say but it's enjoyable, definitely)
-Megadimension Neptunia VII (it's often considered the best turn-based Neptunia game)

Evenicle's one of those games where it starts out with "haha, funny sex game" and then takes a razor-sharp turn into "genuinely what the fuck is wrong with the devs" in very short order.

Besides the ones I mentioned, there's also the Mary Skelter series (if you don't have a problem with dungeon crawlers) and, if you want something moving and beautiful, Blue Reflection.

Yeah, I've barely played Final Fantasy games and I've never played a game from The Legend of Heroes.
