I've been playing since February and I have no fucking clue. Sort of had a mostly generic but serviceable story for awhile. Now all of sudden after a decent climax, the story has taken a right turn with what feels like a filler ark. Just fucking around with crystals and some evil brat and introducing a new Pilgrim character. It doesn't feel like it's gone anywhere for several chapters now.

It's post-alien robot apocalypse. The last of humanity lives far below ground in a single city and dreams of reclaiming the surface. All the cute Nikke girls are human brains in android bodies and they mostly have sad/tragic backstories of how they ended up becoming clankers. Yes it has a fucking story, yes its pretty good, but the entire game and the story exists to make you want to collect the girls as a reward for your efforts in grinding. The reward is what we discuss, it drives the story and gameplay. Everyone is always like

Which event story is Red Shoes involved in? I want to unlock it whenever I get a new film. Just finished Red Ash and it was a pretty nice character-focused story but didn't really advance the plot. Just got done with the first half of Hightech Toy and it's been pretty mid because it doesn't really explore anything new with Matis. The cutscenes are also really brief compared to other events. Also, Red Hood's VA is so below amateur, it's not even funny.

I unlocked Helm's treasure and leveled her shit up and then realized that it's going to take at least another year of playing before she's useful. Is this another case where new players are punished because oldfags already have most treasures maxxed and can simply exchange for the new releases?

Only certain treasures are truly needed anyways like Helm's.

With the way I think it works: every additional treasure added to the pool makes it take longer for a new player to ever finish upgrading a single treasure aside from Drake's, which means we can never trade any of them until they all finish at around the same time, which could take years. It doesn't matter if I only need Helm's, it actually just makes it feel worse.

You just aim for a treasure via outpost then you can trade any extras afterwards, it's really not that bad. Plus bigger events like anni's will provide resources to make it easier.
And you really only need Helm's, Drake and Laplace is good too but Drake is more for lategame shotgun teams in solo raid and Laplace is for general use where she's outclassed in content by other Iron attackers. Still good for Missilis tower and has good burst gen for PVP.

I'm already mad. They've spent the last ten chapters jobbing to us and running away, this isn't the super exciting conclusion Shift Up think it is. They aren't a threat, they're the sidequest the Commander got distracted by that's taken him a silly amount of time to complete.
