Let's look at math for a bit. On average, your run will last 10 days, of which you will spend about 3 in the Caldera and the Kiln, where you don't care about cold nights.
So you have about 6 or 7 nights you'd need to last through. One scorchberry, one heat pack, one stove or a bit of the lantern, are enough to get you through one night. Keep this in mind when deciding what loot to carry.
With the right timing, sitting on the campfire or the capi onsen can give you an easy night, and when push comes to shove, you can survive the night without any heat items by clearing your stamina bar off of any statuses.
