Why does nobody use voice chat in video games anymore? I feel like just a couple years ago VC was way more popular. Now you're lucky if there's one person in the entire lobby using it. Is it fear of being banned?

I like how it is (or was in csgo idk of they've changed it) where if you get reported enough you're just muted by default and people can still choose to unmute you rather than having no control over it. But yeah, the report system really shouldn't exist.

Nobody wants to yell at people who have VC muted automatically or people who don't speak english, and there's an increasing amount of the latter in the past decade compared your halcyon 2000s nigger-spewing cod lobby.
Also fear of getting banned since every game has a reporting system.
People still use VCs in community servers or games with small lobbies (like Lethal Company or Peak with randoms) if you're that desperate.

It's fun depending on what you're playing. When I used to play Garry's Mod, I was talking with a girl half my age during a match. She seemed to like me a lot, but I didn't really care, because young boys and girls aren't that different if you're just gaming with them. It's not more fun to play with a girl.
