World's Largest Games Grader
What's the /v/erdict on video game grading?
Anonymous No.723130103
I think it's interesting, I've done a fair share of of grading trading cards. 99% of this board is opposed to it however so there is no discussion to be had here.

Physical collecting and graded games are gay and is only done by posers. Real gamers already owned the game and don't care about grading because they played the game instead of keeping it and never playing it.

iirc the main group that grades games also owns a large company that auctions them, so it's basically just telling you something is valuable then making you pay a large amount of money for it.

There totally is a market that I can understand where someone owned a game in the past and wants a mint condition copy of it for personal reasons, but the issue is that these aren't the type of people actually buying this shit because the ones that want to do it for personal reasons are instantly turned off by the retarded pricing, so the entire market only consists of streamers and whales.

You still can't walk into a Target and find Pokemon cards anywhere, and they all have signs on the TCG sections basically telling people to fuck off. Not that Nintendo seem to care at all, I'm sure they're just happy that their shit is selling. It's far worse than the amiibo craze. Bunch of old fucking boomers literally punching children for Pokemon cards.

Someone proved that they don't actually check the cards before grading them by defacing it before it was sent in, they gave it a near-perfect score.
One day after posting this to social media they deleted the record from their database, presumably to save face.

back when I thought softmodding an xbox 360 was never going to be possible nor would emulation ever be good enough, I started buying up games because they were dirt cheap. I would only buy new/like new/very good and shit was still dirt cheap.

during the scamdemic fucking every single gears of war sealed copy on ebay was this bullshit even though you could still get them brand new for $10.

I just checked and the most expenisve one right now is $1,700 because it has a MS Employee Store sticker.

lol I,ve bought several with those stickers and fucking tried my damndest to remove them destroying my Kameo box in one attempt. I soaked it in lighter fluid and it made the sleeve that holds the artwork balloon the fuck out.

It's a scam all the way down and anyone who can't see it is an actual retard

Grading and auctioning companies (which, surprise, are the same people) are making absolute bank off the desperation of people trying to get rich quick. It's a super obvious scam.

Grading videogames is ESPECIALLY retarded because you're grading stupid boxes and cheap manuals. The game itself is guaranteed to stop working within our lifetime and you can never even play it if you want to "maintain its value" so please explain wtf is even the point?
