9/10 is probably a bit high. I could agree with an 8 or a 7. Me, personally, it's one of my favourite games. But I think the World Tendency, Upgrade Systems, and the PvP bring it down.
PvP is a double-edged sword, because cheesy weapons like scraping spear are real fun, but the problem is more-so how they never did fix the Dupe glitch. So everyone and their mother had 99 Dark/New moon grass and it became a slog when it became well known.
World Tendency was iffy, and i wish there was another method of getting White without having internet. Because of that, you end up just suiciding in the Nexus to prevent losing it. But if killing a certain number of mobs while in the level slowly shifted it to White and dying plummeted to black as it does now would be a healthy system. You could argue that a player would just farm the enemies to get White world, but that's hardly different from having to farm on enemies for upgrade stones or Souls. Even then, the player is still having to play the game.
Upgrade system is pretty awful, because you need a huge amount of stones in order to upgrade. So if you want more than 1 weapon, it's a tedious grind that really shouldn't be. I think Ds2 had a good idea of simplifying to Titanite Shards and then needing a specific stone to change the element. Keep in mind, that's not about the balancing of the various elements, just the acquisition of the stones.
