Anyone else really feeling this game? Yooka Replaylee
I never played the original but I loved the Impossible Lair. I've been very optimistic about this remake for a while. The movement just looked good in preview footage. I've been busy and haven't had much time to play it. I'm maybe 30 minutes in. Really like it so far. I'm 3 hours into Donkey Kong Bananza and at this point I think I like Replaylee more so far. Too many games to play. I'm a Mario Galaxy 2 virgin experiencing it for the first time on Switch 2 (it's addictive, I always want to get one more star).

It's a pretty good overhaul/remake. I think something it has over Bananza is much better writing. You can definitely feel that British sense of humour, almost Bad Fury Day-esque, something that the Japanese devs who made Bananza never understood.

White, 36 year man here. I really like this game so far. It feels exactly like an old school platformer from the n64 era. Mario odyssey is shit compared to this game now, not that it’s saying much. I’m not going to place it above Astro bot in terms of polish, but it’s absolutely does what it finally set out to do which is a banjo clone.
I didn’t like the first version at all. It felt like it had zero personality and the pagies weren’t fun to collect, but now I really enjoy how the game siphons you into areas with pagies. After silksong, this is exactly the type of game my old ass wants to play.

Just played for an hour or so. It really feels great and rewarding to play. I'd like to play longer tonight but I'm getting tired. I was never high on Mario Odyssey but after this, yeah, I'm even less partial to it.

>didnt fix the bland level themes or design
>didnt fix the lacking variety in npcs or enemies
>didnt fix the repetitive missions, instead they added more like sparkles on the ground you gotta slam
>shit like breathing underwater and fall damage are tonics now for some reason

feels like they took the worst lessons from odyssey ngl

Don't care about Mario Galaxy, but love Yooka Laylee. The Replayee that came out is as good as the original at least.

I am in a strange position in that I liked the original a lot.
The janky parts added to the charm and the fact that they removed them makes me a bit wary

>30fps
Literally no excuse, MK World, Bananza, Fortnite, Apex Legends all run at 60fps have more visual detail than Replayee

on switch 2 you mean? yeah for some reason they prioritized 4k over 60fps. i dunno why they didn't add like a quality/performance toggle, but then the visual options on PC are lacking too so at least it's consistently lazy i guess.

Your Replaylee threads are so insincere.

It's so much better than the original that I'm honestly blown away a bit. Shame it took in total 10 years for it to get to this, with the original essentially being a pain beta. It gives me FFXV versus FFXV Royal Edition vibes, except that game went from a 5/10 to a 6/10

I find it interesting how few posts this thread has, but how it keeps getting bumped with overly formal sounding praise right before it has the chance to die. I've always suspected Playtonic markets here.
