i keep a soft modded version of every console around just because there will always be a game that you wanna play badly that has some bug/graphical artifacting in it that ruins the game. ive probably spent like 300 bucks tops getting every 5-7th gen console and softmodding them. theres always degenerates looking to pawn off their console for drugs on facebook marketplace. i paid 20 dollars for my original xbox and put a 500gb drive out of PVR for 3 dollars

I do this for handhelds. I've got a GBC, a backlit and stock OG GBA depending on what the game was calibrated for, a fat DS and a DSi XL, a PSP and a Vita.

Both games play and look amazing on Xemu. 2 is the king but 1 is different enough that it could be someone's favorite of the two. 1 does get extremely difficult in the later career. The two games I tried (ESPN NFL 2k5 and Conker) had horrific issues. ESPN had about a third to half a second input lag, and Conker would just go black constantly, rendering random triangles. The only way to fix it was saving the state and restarting xemu.

There's a lot that I like about that game, but one of the more enjoyable aspects is how it's legit a very difficult game. It's not like those game experiences where it kicks your ass when you're a kid, but if you revisit it now it's a breeze. When I replay it, it still can kick my ass.

The final boss is one of the more tense battles that I can recall playing video games. Openly facing Yuki at an open area is basically instant death, you have to chip away at her little-by-little and run for cover. If you mess up, you have to start over.

Believe it or not but a lot of PC game ports between gens 5 and 7 were terrible, some would outright not run unless you had very specific settings and all the necessary patches to mitigate the myriads of bugs and glitches that still went fully unresolved once patched. If you were lucky, a kind soul would look into these older games and patch em' up for you (rip magipack) and/or if gog could get their hands on it, update it and patch it up to spec for modern hardware.

Nowadays it's cheaper and faster to just emulate them on their respective console emulator

Even on X360 the official emulation is only there for 1/10th of the games.
This sucks because a lot of multiplatform games that came out on the Xbox were the best versions.

Gauntlet Dark Legacy is my favorite game that is the biggest example of this.
Best version, no official backwards support/emulation but hacking your X360 to allow for custom emulation using official emulator files and it yet still has glitches (unbearable flashing when there is action on the screen.)
This is fixed by extracting the game iso into raw contents, deleting the FMV (video files) and packaging it back into ISO form and playing. You don't get videos but it plays great without any headache inducing flashing or any other bugs.
