Now I have a glass bottle of coke maybe once a month. I still like it, but I wouldn't want to go back to drinking a 2L bottle a day like I used to.

Look. There's a dude i know who has the worst diet on the planet and guzzles sugary soda like crazy. Then there's the guy who is the picture of health, exercises and has never drank much soda or any beverages, water being the thing he consumes the most as a drink. Guess which one had the stones? The healthier one. There are certain risk factors (like higher chances of crystallization) in cases where you drink lots of sugars or otherwise slowly dissolving ingredients, but if you're genetically predisposed you will very likely have them at some point in your life, regardless of how Zen your lifestyle is.
