emulate ps2 version or get the remake for ps4. people shit on the remake but it's very faithful in all but a few autistic areas and if you have never played it before you will never notice. If you likeShadow of the Colossus look into IICO and The Last Guardian by the same dev and director. They are less action orientated and more puzzle/platforming and ICOs controls are jank but they deliver on the mood and atmosphere of Shadow

Ps3 remaster 'grip' is fine. Played it and passed game all the same. Couldnt tell any significant difference unless you actually memorize how long you can stay gripping on a per beast, per body part location basis, and what action colossus is currently doing. idk what that anon means but it seems all they did with the PS3 remaster is enhanced the framerate and made it HD. Some are claiming this messed with the balance since it was meant to be played with the worse framerate on PS2 actually but that is what the official story is. Now the PS4 version is a remake and that went through a lot more changes.

The grip problem is not something the remaster broke, it happens because the framerate is smoother, and you see it emulating the PS2 version too.
The PS3 version is fine, but you should use a patch to unlock the FPS and allow it to run at 60.

Let's assume you already have a VR headset. I have a PSVR2. You can use Desktop+ on Steam to create virtual windows based on desktop windows. You can also send a desktop window to the Steam theatre view.
So, you emulate the PS3 version in RPCS3. RPCS3 supports emulating the PS3 3D TV support. You load up the game in 3D mode, using Side-by-Side mode. Then, in the window capture settings in Desktop+, you grab the RPCS3 window and you turn on 3D mode, and also set it to Side-by-Side. Boom, you're done. You may need to crop out the window border (which gets captured even in fullscreen mode for some reason) but besides that the setup is quite straightforward.

>I guess something like that can be easily lost to the layman, which is why it's extremely easy for people to be wowed at first sight by something just on the basis of it ''having details'', but it's no lie that art and asset production for games in recent years has been dramatically systemized, especially from western developers. It's a deep rabbit hole of sameyness and it's being actively promoted throughout the industry, and taught to thousands naive randos who think having an Artstation portfolio and using buzzwords to explain their generic creations makes you into a quality artist.
>And yes, ''just fucking rocks'' are also a fraction of that problem. These types of typical modern games mostly use very similar visual solutions, techniques, generic ''tried'' design and rely solely on following a few tutorials to get the job done, they can operate only at the most basic techie level and lack an eye and understanding for visual consistency, deliberate aesthetic choices, composition, animation, tone etc.
>This SotC remake is a perfect case study for all that, especially when comparing it to the original (or TLG for that matter).
People easily jump on the ''it's just the hardware'' excuse for things that are conscious deliberate changes done all across the board, and deliberate changes can be objectively observed and compared.
Do you think people would remember the original SotC nearly as much if it didn't stand out so much visually in the first place?
If it looked like a generic PS2 game, people simply wouldn't know any better, but we all know it didn't look like that, did it now?
It deserved it's status as a unique title and vision, and to simply brush all the effort put into it as ''technical limitation'' 10 years later just shows how ill-informed and easily swayed the gaming community is, so do not be surprised why games are not taken seriously as an art form. This remake will age extremely poorly with its visual aesthetic.

I think gamers just simply prefer remakes because a lot of people are of the mindset that old equals outdated and should not be played anymore while new is good and the only way a game should ever be played anymore. Maybe a lot don't think like this but I would bet the vast majority do.
