I understand the gimmick of night levels being that you don't get natural energy but I think they forgot that like half of any given round is about building your resource engine so you aren't reliant on those tiny handouts anyway. making everything cost less, nevermind the literally free attacker, turns that entire section of the game into ez modo

Gloom shrooms are by far one of the most OP plants. They hit hard and hit everything in their range. The trick is funneling zombies into the lane next to them so they get hit for all 3 tiles of its range.

I think Popcap vastly overestimated how OP a free plant is. They probably designed it expecting people to use it at the start of night levels and then switching over to planting something else once you get some sun going, not for people to spam it on cooldown even on day levels.
