Then I played Jebuss Cross and not only could you aquire tons of materials early on you even had the upgrade materials readily available in your first zone.

1-5 are a wizardry style dungeon crawlers. 6-7 feel like a proto Elder Scrolls. There is a turn based mode, back in the day people probably used it more. Now you just click on everything and strafe and kite. There isn't much interaction with the world, but a lot of dungeons, quests, loads of enemies and an open world to explore. Playing them for the first time rn, started with 6. Going mostly blind makes it very tedious and boring desu. A lot of trial and error.
