yes, the steam deck is for playing every single game released pre 2023. switch 2 is for playing 2 tendie games.

Switch 2 is for exclusives, you can wait on the Steam Deck 2 which will probably use a cutdown version of some Medusa Point refresh with RDNA 5 instead of RDNA 3.5+.

I would skip steam deck. My deck has the permanent black screen. If I attach an external monitor, it works. The touchscreen still works. It just puts your screen setting to 0 if your battery does completely.
