The movie seems like it’s not going to be for me, was never a fan of real life humans and sonic in the same place and I’m not much a fan of modern amy, she’s just boring, not that it was much better before but they could do something
I kinda hate how Metal Sonic doesn’t clap back in racing crossworlds, like I’d really love if his clap backs hit were it really hurt, like real evil shit but alas egg nigger took his voice away after heroes

He's always been a jobber. In the film he will be second fiddle to whoever the real antagonist is. Either alt universe/timeline eggman, or whoever else they write in if jim doesn't come back.

Metal Sonic is a difficult character because he does not have a soft side. You can't make him a begrudging ally with basically anyone, except maybe Shadow, and even if you do he has no soul. He's just an evil cunt who if given the reins will not hesitate to kill you. That's very difficult to write in this series, he can't exist alongside Sonic whose entire gimmick is being smug and always victorious.

The post-credit scene in Sonic 3 has already revealed that he's being mass produced. He'll end up being nothing but canon fodder for the action scenes unless they pull a Metal Sonic Kai/Fleetway adaptation that gives us one "main" Metal Sonic with a personality.

Both characters are obsessed with Sonic, you kill two birds with one stone if the character who wants to be/replace Sonic is validated by another character who loves Sonic. I think he's cool and that's all that matters to me,
That being said I'm more interested what the IDW comics are going to do with him next issue. How he'll be portrayed there will likely have much more of an effect on his future game portrayals than the movie since Flynn is pretty much the defacto writer of the Sonic franchise at this point.

IDW gets a lot of legitimate hate, but scrapnik island dodges pretty much all of it due to just being a sonic and tails focused self contained story.

Metal Sonic should be the cool upgraded main antagonist for the big and loud Sonic Adventure 3, where his identity crisis issues from Heroes are given ample time to develop and shine. Sort of how they brought back some earlier development for Shadow for Shadow Generations.
He would also be a metaphorical stand-in for the series AND its fan base, struggling with their own ideintity.

What's in store for Sonic in 2026? It's been 3 whole years since Frontiers and 2 since Superstars. I'd imagine Shadow Generations didn't really take time off the main team much.
