It's not necessarily "shit," it's just mediocre to the point of being disappointing compared to how good ep1 and 2 were.

Three main criticisms/theories of what went wrong:
1. Author got too self-conscious. There are a few parts that are funny or shocking or exciting in the moment, but then you actually think about it for a bit and realize it doesn't actually fit within any overall structure or purpose, it's just baiting audience reaction for its own sake. It's probably not a coincidence that many of these bait-y parts were also highlighted and previewed in devblog posts.
2. Author made the mistake of too many flashbacks. Exploring the past too much is incredibly dangerous because you run the risk of creating consistency and continuity problems, which does indeed happen. Even worse, it kills the feeling of forward momentum and makes reading through the story a slog.
3. Author and/or her programmer-designer partner got too fixated on the "VN" and "not a real game" criticisms, because my god, ep3 ratchets up the number of puzzles by an insane amount but don't even bother integrating them into the narrative anymore. This means that the puzzles become straight up time wasting busy work instead of a way to get immersed into the story's world through interaction.
