Good times. Even when we lost, it was still fun.

Didn't really have that much at beginning. What League had was COOL characters. Many LoL players drifted to it was because of "first wave of boredom" with MMOs.
Coombait or whatever came out later but people genuinely played Jax, Karthus, Urgot, and Pantheon because they were cool. Same with female characters. I never really heard about coom stuff with league before Riot was acquired by China. Then all reworks started and it went towards ecchi and eastern design.

I liked the idea of these guys being these superhero celebrities in their world who had their own shit going on but came for League of Legends matches.

Understand the brain of a bruiser or assassin: if the item doesn't give HP/pen, AD, CDR, movespeed, and some other random power then they don't want to build it so its literally impossible for them to counterbuild mages since only maw of malmortius gives both AD and MR.
Its not like mages weren't bullied out of the mid lane and forced to take over for fucking support of all things, nope they should have their one efficient defense item removed so that the dariuses of the world can keep facemashing black cleaver or lee sin's eclipse every game, they can't possibly be expected to actually dodge the burst combo while at half hp instead of cheating out a kill with dumb healing and runes that only benefit them.

Back in the olden times I was hanging out on an IRC channel where a bunch of people were playing MOBAs and would run one match and then spend two hours screaming at each other on IRC about whose fault it was that they lost in the least civil manner possible. The game turned these guys into rabid animals locked in a cage with each other. Yet they would constantly mock anyone who played and discussed anything else and try to rope more people into MOBAs.
