usually game teaches you the rules of play and adds ontop of that as you progress
artificial difficulty is changing those well defined core rules because fuck you we couldn't come up with a better challenge for this part
one example that comes to mind is in persona 5 the game hard codes you into thinking hitting all enemies on screen weakness -> powerful all out attack, but then 1 boss for some reason deletes your all out attack and you have to take one step back and think wtf do I do then (and this 1 time rule stepback never happens again)
