How to focus on study instead of gaming?
>college midterms is coming
>i am still here arguing about fucking video games and playing them
>tried to quit but just cant
any good mental tips to get my mind away from distractions so i can actually study?

yeah, just study.
you need self discipline. so limit yourself to games to the evening after an hour of study.

you don't need to study diligently. i see leagues of retards prepping weeks in advance despite it providing no tangible benefit whatsoever. if you go to class regularly you already have learned the material - at which point you can just review for an hour the day before the exam, get 8+ hours of sleep, wake up well before the exam, and study for 3 hours before entering. this method has served me very well (assuming i go to class)

i am an europoor so the government covers a lot of my student debts, and i just pay off the rest with odd jobs in my study breaks.

my parents still send me some money for lounging and expenses though. Around a hundred pounds per month.

The quizzes I get from my classes help with the mid-terms and finals since they just basically quiz you every 1 or 2 chapters. You only really need to study for these small quizzes a day before the quiz itself, which helps tremendously for memorizing for mid-terms and finals since you've got it in your head already, provided you're not a retard

listen to those awful videogame documentaries while you're studying or anything that interests you, really helps concentrate on time wasting boring tasks
I do this for drawing and i can go from 30 minutes drawing sessions to 3 hour long ones

You should try to just power through the urge and get on top of your work. People who have this kind of issues do this in school and college because they probably don't know what they are doing and are afraid by the immense amount of work. What game are you playing btw that's making you do this crap?

Turn off your PC at the wall and don't turn it back on again until you've done some good study for the day. Use it as a reward. Also, get a good night's rest and study after you wake up before your mind is full of stimulation. If you go to the store, or for a walk, I suggest not listening to music or anything like that. Maybe throw on some background noise as you crunch. Drink more water, too. Finally, just do it. That's the life of a student.

Do a pomodoro like study structure. I did it in college and got through it pretty well. 1 hour of study, half hour of something fun. Don't play games since you can't help yourself. For my half hour I listened to podcasts/audio books while doing dishes or cooking dinner or reading webcomics or just jerking off. Hour of study, another half hour, hour of study, take a long break. Long breaks are vidya gaming time now. You don't need more than 3 hours of study a day. Hell you probably don't need more than 2 hours depending on what you're studying.Unless you're korean or japanese in which case get off of 4chan before your parents find out.

Not OP but I am not interested in anything. I go to uni because it is affordable and it'll earn me a diploma that will more than double the wages I earned before

I feel you, OP. My lack of self-discipline is woeful. If I have a mid-sem at 9am, I'll stay up all night gaming or browsing /v/, only able to force myself to start revising at ~3-4am. This gives me just enough time to skim through all my lectures and gain a bare minimum understanding of the content. I like my area of study and I enjoy the lectures and content; it's just that getting started is a Herculean task for me. Sometimes, if I think I won't be able to force myself to study, I'll sleep early (6-7pm) so that I wake up at 2-3am, and the subsequent urgency and adrenaline rush are usually enough to get me started. The downside is that I'm fucked if I have multiple tests or assignments sequentially or on the same day. I went through hell a couple of weeks back because I had a mid-sem Friday morning and a 1300-word lab report due midnight the same day, and I hadn't gotten started on either come Thursday night. I stayed up all night revising for the mid-sem, passed out on my bed as soon as I got home, and sent out a hurried email to my subject coordinator when I woke up pathetically begging for a 2-day extension for the report. Despite all that, I still barely finished it in time.

If you start to study then 30 mins in you stop and go to video games then you have straight up ADHD. I was exactly in your position bro in college.

Either get on ADHD meds like Adderall or go with natural nootropics like L-Thenanine/lions mane/etc or use some dynamic studying strategy like eating junk food (rewards pleasure center) while studying/pomodoro techniques/lo fi study music

Turn to physical media or get a shitty laptop to dedicate as your uni device so you can take it anywhere and get shit done. Go in to the library, find a quiet spot and get going.

If you donโ€™t have the motivation to continue than just quit. No reason to spend money on this shit if you hate it. There are tons of jobs that pay good and have good hours and donโ€™t require college. If you canโ€™t afford to live on your own, just live with your parents like I do. They probably wonโ€™t mind as long as you work.
