As WWII edges closer to slipping from living memory, Nazis in video games are more taboo and forbidden to depict than ever.

Not only is including them (even as enemies) considered "controversial" but they often refuse to even depict them with their swastika flag because it apparently strikes such fear into modern man that it cannot be seen in a product that generates income.
Even classic games that had Nazis and swastikas in them (like Wolfenstein and Doom) are being censored retroactively to remove all traces of Nazis from them, just because corporations and governments (working together as one entity) refuse to allow them to be sold in many European nations.

They're not, more games are slowly implementing "bad guys" campaigns. They censor the svastica because of state laws but they let you play as the Germans. Battlefield 5, company of heroes for example. There's not many new ww2 games that have campaigns, that's the issue.
