All tranime games are low-effort low-budget garbage that quite usually flop unless they go full gacha (even then their longevity isn't consistent, gacha route doesn't always work). Most people stay away from tranime-styled games unless they're from well-established franchises like FE, but FE itself isn't a huge franchise either, it sells like 2-3 million copies per entry, if it gets lucky. And then you have FF where it became more tranime as it went on and simultaneously became shittier with each new entry. I do believe that the vast majority of gamers will never look at some tranime game twice while RE will keep selling millions as long as it's decent.

Basically any kind of eye-catching artstyle can get me to at least watch the gameplay footage. Even ugly games can look interesting, tho. But when you have bland visuals that aren't remarkable in any way, it's just off-putting, and there are plenty of anime games that look too boring to pick up.

I also tend to avoid anything that's a low effort brand wank, like dragon ball games, guilty gear/blazblue style fighting games..
The beating of a dead horse extends to anything One Piece related, and 99% of animes that get a game are almost always some janky ass "trails of" -styled games
It is unbelivable that it took CHINA of all countries to start pandering to weebs in a way that makes sense

I skip almost all chinese games, but the few ones I do play are anime-styled, so that should answer OP:s question pretty decisibely.
For the record, I loathe gacha, but some of them have undeniably good character design, music and passable stories (too bad it's drip-fed shit that majority of the players will never see to it's conclusion)
I'm currently trying out blue protocol,
it feels extremely soulless with it's genshin-like approach, but the artstyle, emotes and world are still able to keep it floating, so IDK, the original blue protocol must have been turbo-bad for it to fail that fast.
I figured the Chinese must've paid them a lot of money to have them pull the plug and let them take over with this mobile-ized version.

I think it might be more likely to draw my attention initially. That doesn't mean I will necessarily play the game (I avoid all gacha for example, no matter how good the style looks), but I've mostly noticed that anime-styled games at the very least make an effort to look appealing most of the time, rather than being made ugly on purpose as is the case for many games in more "realistic" styles. They often run better too.

Less likely.

Much like porn or just lewd content, publishers know that anime style sells and so there's less emphasis or drive to make the content good. If your game looks like a generic gritty realistic game, then it needs to be good to really stand out from everything else. But if your game has a cover with an anime chick in a bikini, then horny weebs will buy it and recommend it to everyone even without having played it once.

The same is true for lewd content. The same is true for hentai content. There's basically no good porn games and most games showing off T&A tend to be pretty shit as well. And there's a ton of shit anime games as well, even if there's a few which are actually good.
