Poor people love Mario and stuff, and they play Nintendo games on emulators a lot.
What happens is that Nintendo has this policy that they can't "devalue" their games, so very often they try to sell them in shitholes around the world at the same price that a German or Japanese person would pay for video games, which obviously means that a good part of the public can't afford to buy their games.
The effect this has is that the public looks for alternatives, and since Nintendo is more about brand and name than actual quality, it's quite common to see a more realistic view of video games in shitholes around the world than, say, in the USA.
For example, the phenomenon of rewriting history by inventing that the terrible Nintendo 64 was a actually a good console would never have happened in a shithole where people give legitimate change to Nintendo's competitors.
In other words, the poor fuckers from the world don't hate Nintendo, they just don't praise it because its prices encourage them to play competitors' games, which are often much better than Nintendo's.
