Nanba and Saeko have a lot of chemistry even compared to actual bro characters but it's exactly because there's zero chance of anyhing romantic ever going on between them, so they're very relaxed with each other.
From reading and watching a lot of japanese media, japanese writers seem believe that good friends can't be proper lovers and vice-versa. Imo Ichi and Saeko can work fine on paper but I don't trust RGG with them, they're extremely cowardly when it comes to protagonists being in a relationship as seen with how Kiryu /Sayama and Akiyama/Hana got treated.

What the fuck was up with Eiji suddenly showing up all battered and bruised randomly near the end watching everything go down oın his phone. I didn't even notice it was supposed to tbe Eiji until the final cutscene with him, he looked so different and I don't remember him getting beat up like that, it felt like there was an entire section missing.

Overall my big issue with IW was how meh the new characters are. Yamai is pretty cool but for example Tomizawa's character already closed by the end of chapter 4 and he's just kinda here for the whole game.
It's a shame because usually likeable characters are one of the best part of Yakuza games imo.

It's a $20-30 game at best and is alright, but nothing to write home about.
>Story is a direct sequel to 8 and Majima's amnesia is just there to justify the ship content. The most interesting parts of it are the things tied to previous games instead of what it introduces.

If you're on PC there is a mod to make the rings not give you any attack but then you're just trading ring buffs for buffing attack normally via your skills so you decide what you want to do.

8's biggest problem was that instead of a ichiban centric game it was another Kiryu finale game, so Kiryu got all the interesting stuff while Ichiban was kind of just rehashing Y1's plot but with characters not even he gave much of a shit about. here's hoping for the next game they finally for real retire Kiryu as a protag so we can get an actual story made for the characters the franchise was supposed to be move onto

Kiryu wasn't on death's door, he was simply giving up on life because his life was just being a patsy for the Daidoji. The game pretty much shows him that tons of people care, think about, or are influenced by his presence which gives him the strength to carry on and actually go through with the chemo.

It's filler and fanservice. There is no point in time it would ever take place because the only place it would fit is right before they split up for the final bosses. The entire crew would have had to, for no reason, left Yokohama to visit Hawaii and slack off when they actively know both Ebina and Buraisu are still trying to get Lani and stop both Ichiban and Kiryu, and then a few hours later return for the main story. It can't take place after they split up because Kiryu is immediately carted off to the hospital and then goes to get chemo at which point he's bedridden. That's also why when they're all together in Yokohama for the epilogue it also can't have happened because, again, the Kiryu thing.

The Judgment games are so good I can't believe they were made by this hack studio.

Yeah, it's fine. Ichiban/Kiryu are pretty much instalocks since the other guys aren't worth it, and the chicks have ridiculous skills. Saeko would be better switched to Chitose in Geodancer or Housekeeper since Chitose has access to Aparetif, Violino Adagissimo, and better stats (Particularly Agility). Saeko using Jewel Breaker isn't really necessary because Ichiban using Essence of Friendship buffed by that one Action Star double damage buff does absurd damage with no setup outside of the double damage buff, and then Kiryu in Action Star just flings damage out, especially buffed Essence of the Dragon Gods.

Spoilered because I don't know how far in you are but this is the kind of damage you can do turn 1 with Ichiban.
