You are naive, every company gets its money from you one way or another.
You can't fund a live service title with single purchases. That's why b2p games all have barebones content and so many premium or pay-for-convenience options that they end up costing as much as a sub anyway, except it feels way more trashy.
Not to mention they're all infested with poor people and the low quality discourse they bring to the game's community. If you've ever interacted with gacha game players you'll know what I mean. A subscription is frankly the least harmful option compared to all that.
