Andromeda is way worse.
Veilguard has fun gameplay, an amazing character creator, cool roleplaying, huge cities, amazing art style and a good story with interesting villains

Andromeda has horrible MMORPG like "half open world" map full of (?) to do, awful companions, no roleplaying, the character creator forces you to play as the defaults or your skin textures are hideous and even if you put up with bad textures the options are very lacking while Veilguard has one of the best character creators ever. And i'm not even gonna get into how utterly garbage the story is, the villain is some ugly mute stone guy who does nothing the whole game yet you're supposed to "fear him"? And just ONE new alien race in an entire galaxy? Shit game.

Andromeda was definitely worse on a technical level, but in its defense, it was made by a branch office of D-listers with no industry experience. Meanwhile, Veilguard didn't have any real performance issues, but definitely felt like the weaker title in terms of gameplay and writing. Overall, I wouldn't recommend either, especially for longtime fans of either series.

Fallen Empire - Eternal Throne had a big budget. That was a the last time they care though. Its been on life support ever since. I don’t even know what the plot is supposed to be any more. Last time I checked, they were dragging out their “The Mandalorian” tie in plot line years after that show got canceled.

Mass Effect is my favorite franchise, dragon age is also up there

I have thousand + hours in both, and let me tell you Veilguard is worse simply because it doesn't retroactively tarnish me1-3; the best decision andromeda makes is being set in a different galaxy, which means basically everything that happens there doesn't matter in context to the overall universe - now, this also meant that the story was relatively low stakes if you didn't care about andromeda or its characters, of which there are few worth caring about - but it respected the legacy of the OG trilogy

Veilguard does the opposite, firstly the accomplishments of all previous protagonists are trivialised when the whole world gets fucking ruined anyway, and the only person who can stop it is Rook, who is somehow even worse than Ryder in many respects

Moreover, veilguard bastardises many facets of dragon age lore that even inquisition respected; the wardens, tevinter and the templars to name a few are completely diminished or changed, the crows are especially egregious

While both games might be bad in themselves - at these Andromeda is self contained enough you can kind of ignore it - Veilguard may well have killed dragon age; also Andromeda is just overall a better game if we're being honest

Since I didn't play Andromeda at launch and I played the patched version it's hard to say. They're both games that PLAY well and are almost entirely let down by the writing. I guess I'd say Veilguard is worse because it hurts more since historically I've liked the Dragon Age games and ME is meh

Because this romance was phoned in, as the people that designed it were just thinking "What if we genderflipped Garrus and made her sassy". But the things that make Garrus attractive to female players aren't the same things that are attractive to the average male player, so Vetra was only romantically interesting to people already engaged in regular mental gymnastics that convinced them that anything that could be looked up on tvtropes was either boring at best or abhorrent at worst.

Hard to say. Veilguard has icky aesthetics and writing, but it has a level of polish to cutscenes that's unusual for BioWare. Andromeda has cringe dialogue but feels technically impressive and epic in scope. Every time I go through it there are moments where I just stop to look at the environment because everthing feels grandiose and really spacey. It never quite scratches that ME1 itch, but occasionally I vibe with it in the same way.

Veilguard nuked its lore. Literally every city is brought down and all its interesting factions are rendered in accordance with PC guidelines. With Andromeda, they at least had the sense to remove the setting to new grounds so if they fucked up they wouldnt destroy the lore. Veilguard skullfucked all games before it and made everything the cause of some shitty Illuminati group. You can have a sequel in Mass effect and hand wave Andromeda away. You can not in Veilguard. Completely fucked its IP. Still cant believe they greenlit that decision.

if I had to play either of them again, It's definitely Andromeda. Andromeda had moments of fun here and there, like Liam's loyalty mission. Liam himself is fucking awful, and I swear two people worked on him because of how inconsistent he is. But the mission itself is pretty unique, I thought, with the level being turned upside down a few times throughout and still having firefights through it.

Veilguard actively pissed me off. Loved Origins and Awakening, 2 had it's glaring problems, but I still enjoyed it overall. Inquisition was boring for the most part, and I pretty much completed it out of not having anything else to play at the time. Veilguard didn't bring anything of value, has nothing going for it, and shits all over the prequels.

I'm also another anon who had the benefit of playing andromeda after all the patches so IDK how bad it really was, but putting aside technical issues and my own disagreement with some of the gameplay changes ME:A still felt like an ME game. I have no fucking clue why DA feels like they have to re-invent the wheel every iteration.
