There's a fascinating psychological effect where people seem to refuse to believe that there's a conspiracy where someone's best interests aren't at heart in the middle of them telling you to your face that they don't like you.
The year is 2025. All of this bullshit was "about a decade ago" and what followed was 10 years of pain and misery where every AAA video game got pulled into the orbit of social politics. All of them. The world of video games is full of loud, violent games where men with large muscles and a chainsaw gun and they all got feminized and belittled by women. Usually with a nosering and a strange haircut that a bit of research (googling the people involved) is revealed to be a facescan of the voice actress. The voice actress with zero prior credits except for an official looking website documenting their career fostering a discussion about inclusive diversification in digial media inclusivity.
You can call this fascinating psychological effect "being a moron", because they don't have the pattern recognition skills of a rat that walks onto an electrified metal plate and then learns that it's a bad idea. The three step process that reads like something from 1984 goes:
1. It's not happening
2. It's happening, and this is a good thing
3. You're the problem because this thing that's happening is now just how this works
I don't know where all of this stands now, because I'm mostly just depressed and the years blur together. I don't know if women are gamers again or if gamers are the biggest threat to american democracy.
I feel like this thread isn't going to last long, because discussing the premise of video games being co-apted by something completely irrelevant is itself not related to videogames and therefore it belongs on /pol/. /pol/, the island of misfit threads where someone from the cooking board tries to figure out why strawberries are being called a symbol of white colonialism.
