DMC5 and NG4 both add a lot of new stuff though, so much in fact that some fans literally cry about how its not just "Muh Dante/Muh Ryu" for the millionth time

Rage bait because all those games are good. P3r is better than the piss2 version by far. Mgs3 is best in franchise. DMC5 is best in franchise NG4 has potential to be as well.

Trying to change things up to a large, or even a small degree is a huge gamble. Paper Mario games after TTYD or SPM, are all games that would have been received better as its own separate thing. It's not inherently negative, but sequels that are too different are usually better off as their own IPs.
