I only buy Sketchers now after getting my first slip ins, slip on sneakers is such a no brainer that the fact that ever single shoe company hasn't adopted this feature makes anything but sketchers a non option.

This is solved by tying your shoes once and then never untying them. I think I've tied the shoes I currently own less than 5 times in the 7 or 8 years I've owned them.

Sketchers slip ins are designed like this, you only tie them once, the difference is that the lip is designed in a way that facilitates putting on the shoes without untying, and then the cushion grips the foot making them more comfortable to wear without retying them. More importantly this reduces the strain of putting on tied shoes because the lip guides and supports the foot as it's going into the shoe whereas a regular tennis shoes strains the lip and this damage gets compounded over time destroying the back of the shoe.

I almost exclusively wear flip flops or vans nowadays (besides my designated workout shoes/work boots)

I wore those toe shoes I forget the name of for a long while in the mid-late 2010s. I got an early pair and they held up very well. People loved them too lol I went to get my fucking oil changed once and some lady at the dealership wanted a picture of them, would get all sorts of questions. I would lift in them. Nowadays I wear flipflops when I have to go out, some cheap boots if I'm doing yardwork, and otherwise I'm barefoot.
