Hardwarefags may have a point for certain systems but 7th gen hardware aged so poorly. Emulating/playing PC ports of these games with good performance feels like that was how they were meant to be played.

Consoles fucking suck, and old ones are pure aids. I made the mistake of buying a PS2 slim on ebay thinking I would have an epic nostalgic adventure and revisit my childhood. What a mistake. You can barely make out what's happening on modern tvs the resolution is so low. I couldn't play for more than 20 minutes.

The whole point of "using the original hardware" with old hardware in practice is just the TV, that do significantly and noticeably transform the experience.
However with a raspi/Shilled purple box/just fucking around with VGA and crtemudriver you can do the same without the same hardware.

And then there's the part where fags use shit like RGB mods and all that to make old consoles look like emulators, and it's hilarious.

I prefer uixlite, xbmc4g feels too xbox one and I don't play on old consoles for a modern experience. The downloader UI for xbmc4g is really impressive. Also I find it to be sluggish.

That's half the story, outputting to a CRT from a PC can be a shitfuck of a lottery down to mobos, transcoders and even different models of the same GPUs having problems, hence MiSTer being so popular despite the nigger of the lead dev being ironically against 15hz usage and treating it as secondary. Pi similarly has a lot of roadblocks.

PS1 classic Silent Hill on PS3 had audio glitches until a couple of years ago where a system update apparently fixed it. Just play on Duckstation

Is it worth buying a fat PS3 today? Yes I would play it obviously.
