Minecraft has been a glorified super underpolished game engine for other people to do Mojang/Microcock's work for them past 14 years and you're at all surprised they don't know why shit is in the game and do stupid crap?

They already did, you can remove mob grieffing by making a command.

I use a datapack that changes his behavior. Instead of breaking blocks, it creates a massive knockback effect, launching everything in his reach far off top.

Anyway, minecraft is the ultimate sandbox, you make your own fun. Change the rules to suit your playstyle, anyone saying otherwise is an imbecile.

I played like 15h of Minecraft total, building a house to not get demolished by creepers first, then mining till I get diamond equipment, then going to the underworld and nether realm, and then fighting the ender dragon.
I guess there was supposed to be a story but that's the entirety of single-player Minecraft in 2013

Did anyone make a mod to "Terraria"-up Minecraft? Adding actual reasons to explore to find fat loot and building your own town with NPCs and shit? That rat bastard Notch made noises about Minecraft having NPCs and quests and then he sharted out the villagers on his way out the door with all the money. I always enjoyed the building aspect in Minecraft a lot more but I play Terraria more because loot whoring and exploring is actually fun

No sir, not at all.
Sharing texture packs before there was a retarded amount of blocks was key to the experience.

anyone who plays vanilla minecraft is a normalfag and you shouldn't value his or her opinion on it

they really should just make Minecraft 2 with first class mod support and focus the entirety of the base game around adding more systems instead of more content.
just let the players fill it with content, basically what roblox did.

i've always treaded minecraft like a painter's box game more than anything.

i only recently did a full nothing to elytra playthrough and am working towards finishing all the stuff i want (building materials for a big castle and netherite tools/armor).

its quite satisfying and fun, to progress through
>copper to iron to diamond tools and armor.
>exploring the nether and taming it for easier traversial,
>building bridges and tunnels between nether portals for easier travel to and from locations (like the stronghold)
>getting to the end and exploring it for pearls and an elytra

i was never super fond of the redstone farms because i dont have autism, but the copper golem gave me a super easy braindead storage solution, and some ultra basic stuff like hopper carts makes creating a chicken farm for infinite food and emeralds piss easy

i think villager trade posts, and specifically the librarian is retarded as fuck though, that is just bad design because its repeatedly breaking and placing one block potentially hundreds of times looking for one or two items (mending and unbreaking III)

its like an 8 or 9 out of 10 probably

Tranny devs are too low IQ to make a new engine
All they can do is steal mods

Super accessible modding has also got to be a large part of Bioware's Neverwinter Nights success too. That toolset was easy enough to use that a single dude could bang on a module over a few weekends and potentially make a compelling little adventure that could be dropped into almost anyone's copy of the game (Assuming any needed hakpacks) which was and is why that game did so well. I don't know why more companies don't try for that, you can even still sell DLC packs of new content for whatever your game is as expansions because by fucking god I bought those immediately and it always took me weeks before I'd even start the base campaign

Jesus I'm going off the deep end but GOD DAMN IT IT'S BEEN A WHILE FOR A GOOD EASY MODDING PLATFORM

It's a bit of a pain in the ass to make things mod-first, you have to design your game around reading from directories rather than hard references, have overwrite-able methods and data everywhere, figure out how to handle conflicts etc,
the game x4 has an entire XML based language they have to maintain so that mods and game logic can run together.
you might do all this work and then the game flops and no mods are ever even made for it, you could have saved yourself 1/3 of your dev time if you just didn't think about any of that stuff.

It's not just that there aren't really games that are easy to mod.
It's also that windows users generally don't make shit and sdks tend to be windows only.
Like the most prolific to mod games right now that I can think of are fucking binding of isaac and Terraria.
And you need effectively no tools to just put together a mod and put it out.
Hammer 2 is actually really REALLY fucking nice to use apparently, but because it's windows only, genuinely the ONLY shit there is fucking ports.

I don't understand why. They're too chickenshit to add in actual animals to any interesting degree. The stuff they add with any real 'interaction' (and I use that term incredibly loosely) are all nonsense creatures just like it. What's wrong with the OG nonsense creature (which I think is technically a plant)?

Companies don't do that anymore because it means they don't have absolute control over their product. It's why you never get to host your own servers, make your own maps or design your own content. It's all matchmaking on centralized servers where they control your entire experience from beginning to end.

Or, if they give you the tools to do so, they add bullshit EULA clauses like what Blizzard did with Warcraft Reforge's world editor, where they claimed they could just take your work for free.
