Original pikachu looked like a big, chubby mouse who happened to have electrical powers. The left pikachu that succeeded it was obviously given a more marketable shape for toys, the right is even further doubling down on that on an already inferior design to the point where it doesn't at all look like an animal but just some random thing you'd use as a key ring or back pack charm. Its head is too big to the point where it breaks the fluid lines because market research said that big heads on undersized bodies sells better. Its ears randomly jut out to the sides instead of at any angle to its rear because its easier to make molds for and harder for the chink sweatshops they contract to fuck it up. Its tail is now just a playdough lump that doesn't even look like a lightning bolt instead of having any sharp angles because

Every single decision made about it has clearly been made from the cynical position of how best to make money off it when it was already a design degraded by that thought and already making literal millions of dollars for them.
