Dumping money into a game doesn't automatically make it good or give instant results. Besides, they have a steady stream of things for the next year with at least 8 games that we know of.
The limiting factor is number of teams and they're putting the money into making new offices right now.

Why does winning an award matter to the people playing the game?
It's not going to alter how fun it is and really only matters in the long term to the people that worked on it.
