It's interesting that this conversation is happening. I was actually just talking with a buddy last night about my take on this phenomenon. I do think every generation has a handful of titles that spark a flood of clones, and from there it typically becomes a contest on if the original creators can keep their crown or eventually get upstaged by a competitor that handles it better.
I think Witcher 3 did upstage Skyrim and Bethesda's place in the industry (while not a direct clone and upgrade to Skyrim's design, it did enough of the key components that made Skyrim appealing better than Skyrim and took it's place.) From there you saw a shift of ES clones to Witcher 3 clones. GTA similarly saw an infinite amount of clones, but no one was able to truly upstage Rockstar, and thus GTA remains the dominate force and at this point it seems the rest of the industry agrees that there's no use chasing that crown anymore.
I think it'll still take a bit for more "BG3" clones to really come out, but I think they'll start to come eventually. We're definitely in the early stages of the soulslike clones, it feels like more and more soulslike games are coming out every year, and with the state of Fromsoft I do think it could be possible for someone to possibly outstage them. The competitors are getting better at mimicking the style but I also suspect that people might start to just get grimdark action RPG fatigue (I know my eyes were glazing over when Mortal Shell 2 and Lords of the Fallen 3 were announced.)
