I looked a bit into dogbolds. What I see commonly depicted is this;

>Logistics officers
>Mercenaries
These are the most common dogbolds I've been able to find. The smarter ones also tend to resemble domesticated dog breeds, and almost never any feral breed. More barbaric ones tend to resemble coyotes more than anything else. This is in contrast to D&D kobolds, which are more or less just lizardmen with a different name. They can have a wide variety of roles, but ultimately they're just lizardmen.

All of this is, of course, in media for all ages. Obviously, the one role that every kobold has is that of a talking onahole, but that didn't need stating. That being said, dogbolds feel more interesting.
