>So is there anything actually wrong with it
The headline is "This is Not an Xbox" and the reason being that "Xbox" is a cohesive integrated experience where you have all your xbox games, other apps, a storefront, friends and the device settings all in a unified controller optimised interface.
But this is a PC running windows with a skin on it so it's a bit of a clusterfuck in the way all windows gaming is. The xbox interface doesn't have all the same features as the xbox, settings are split between the xbox app, the ROG app and the windows settings app. When programs change focus sometimes the thing that has focus is not the game or the interface so you sit there pressing buttons wondering what's going on and only experienced windows gamers will know you need to toggle the alt-tab button to try and get the focus back. You'll probably spend more time in steam than xbox and while that works, it works only as well as big picture on windows usually works which is almost but not 100%. Usual problems of running windows games on a controller interface. There's always going to be slavjank that requires you to press a key or move the mouse which you wouldn't have to do on the xbox version for obvious reasons.
And the final nail in the coffin is that because it runs windows, and full windows 11 at that, it pops up things about onedrive and backup and copilot and all the other 2025 windows hell made worse by not having a m+kb to dismiss it.
So it's not exactly show stoppers for enthusiasts, but for normies who want a handheld xbox experience it falls so short it's laughable.
